Now Mama, we're all wondering what you would do in this situation. Please, give me some advice...

I would look around in general annoyance, commenting loudly:

"Where ARE his parents?"
then slowly and casually walk away.

Ok, in all seriousness, the current theory on dealing with this behavior is to absolutely ignore it. Reacting negatively (discipline) or positively (bribery) validates the behavior. As embarrassing as the tantrum is, I would probably give the little tyke one chance, saying

"You stop this right now or I'm leaving",

then follow through by walking around the corner and waiting for him to realize his audience has left. This works with Rascal, but then, he's never been this bad!

monkey wants to watch it again! ahhh!! he doesn't need ideas. the hardest part of parenting such behaviors is following through on your threats. if you say your gonna leave, then do it (not w/o the kid), otherwise it affirms that they are in charge. but i would also look around for the irresponsible parents!! another big thing - choose situations where your child can succeed. if they're already having a bad day - for whatever reason - then don't take them to a place where you'll both/all be sorry. again, sometimes way easier said than done. but i'm sure with your child's parentage ali kat, there will be none of these nasty situations - nope, no mischevious genes in that baby's make-up!

You are so right degsies. Anything's gotta be better than dealing with it in public, where you can't give in to your ripsnortin' smokeboiling fury. lol! Not that it's ever appropriate, of course.

It's a wonder we moms survive. I want to lash out irrationally at people who still question whether being a 'stay-at-home-mom' is a real job. Hmmm, maybe they need to meet me during my ripsnortin' smokeboiling fury...
